11SCII

Level 1 Science (Internal)

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs S. Fairweather

Whilst a Science option is not compulsory in Year 11 students are strongly encouraged to consider it as one of their options, due to the opportunities it opens in terms of Level 2 and Level 3 courses. It is a subject that gives breadth to their curriculum. An essential subject for many careers in technical areas such as Electrician, Laboratory Technician, and many other areas of trade employment. As well as gaining scientific knowledge and understanding, there is emphasis in this course on preparing a student for tertiary study at a polytechnic. This is an internally assessed achievement standard course, which provides students with a range of opportunities within the different branches of science.
