Course Description

Biology is the Science of Life and is a useful subject for many career pathways such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, health and physical education, horticulture, agriculture, farming, teaching and in the food industry. It is also a subject of general interest for many people, in areas such as conservation, wildlife, stem cell research, genetic engineering and general health & well-being.

The 13 Biology course consists of the study of animal and plants and their response to the external environment including a visit to a zoo to observe animal behaviour, human evolution, a biological investigation based around animal behaviour, forming an opinion on a socio-scientific issue and how homeostasis is maintained in animals.

Recommended Prior Learning

Achieved grade in 2.5 Genetic Variation and Change in Level 2 Biology, or HOF approval.
