This course is designed to strengthen students’ communication and analytical skills across a variety of written and visual forms. The skills taught and developed in this course will serve students in the workplace and in tertiary study. Students should note that this course is academically rigorous. Students may opt to sit the visual text and unfamiliar texts external exam papers at the end of the year.
To take this course, students must have achieved at least 12 credits in Level Two English, including achievement in the writing portfolio standard, in order to achieve at this level.

Only students engaged in learning and achievement derived from Te Marautanga o Aotearoa are eligible to be awarded these subjects as part of the requirement for 14 credits in each of three subjects.
