Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs D. McHugh.

•Students will research, analyse and present knowledge of music. 

•There are three major Units of Work pursued during the year.

What skills will I learn?
•Song Writing and Composition.
•Performance and instrumental skills. Formal tuition on their musical instrument is compulsory for all students.
•Appreciate music in context.
•Develop an understanding for music theory and the elements of music.

Recommended Prior Learning

Year 9 Music or one year tuition on an instrument. Students will need to commit to lessons on a chosen instrument for the full year.

Pathway

Taking Music as an option in Year 10 gives the student skills in performing, in groups or as a soloist. They gain in confidence which they can use in the future as a performer, as part of a band or orchestra, making their own music, teaching others, collaborating with others on projects.
