Subject & Learning Pathways

Below is a useful summary to show how the different subject pathways develop in each faculty as you move up from the Junior school into NCEA Levels 1-3

The diagram below summarises just how much choice students have when choosing their options. The gold subjects are compulsory in each year group. Year 9 students will choose 2 options, Y10 students will choose 3; Science is not compulsory but we strongly encourage students to study Science in Year 11 - some career pathways (Eg NZ Defence Forces) require L1 Science credits. Year 11 students will choose 5 subjects to study in Year 12 and our current Year 12 students will choose 5 subjects to study in Year 13.

* Note - In addition to the choices made, students will also choose 2 backup subjects
